It was 6:00p.m. and I’m on my way home from the job and my phone rings. It’s Chase on the other end and he says, “Daddy, you promised me we could go fishing tonight. Are we?” What could I say, No? I don’t think so. I was tired and had a very long day, but I had made a promise to him and he was sure to keep me to it. :)
I got home, loaded our gear, bought a pound of shrimp and hit the Texas City Dike. The Dike is only a few blocks from the house so it’s real nice and convenient.
I’ve posted a few photos of our fishing excursion. Though we had several “bites”, we only managed to catch one little fish...a Sand Trout. I hooked him and let Chaser real him in.
Bring’em in son!

Eat your heart out, Bill Dance!

Definitely a trophy fish! O_o

Look at those canines!

Sunset on the Bay!

We only spent about an hour out there, but it was an hour that Chase and I had together that I’m sure he’ll remember for the rest of his life. I’m a firm believer in collecting experiences over material things. I know for me, I remember every time I was taken fishing as a boy.
Every time!

We had a great time. Just look at her smile! I really enjoyed our time together at the game. Me, my little girl and Minute Maid Park! Though there are many reasons to go to Council, one of them is to see friends that you don’t always get to see. Everyone is busy doing the work God has called them to where He has called them, and so it’s not always easy to see those that labor for the Lord with you. It was a good time! I visited with a good friend of mine, Donny Flippo and Veronica, his wife along with some of Donny’s staff this past week. We even played a round of golf together...I won! :-)
Tuesday was the missions service and David Grant was the keynote speaker. I’d heard David back several years ago in Alabama and have always wanted to hear him again. His sermon moved and challenged me in new ways! It was amazing. The focus of this year’s council was the new “Home of Hope- Texas” that is going to be built to rescue young girls that have been captive to the slavery of Human Trafficking. It’s unbelievable what these girls have to suffer and God has given our Women’s Ministry Leader, Sandra Bass, a vision to bring a change to this terrible crime. The last count I heard was $357,000.oo was raised to support this effort! Amazing! Add this to a $250,000.00 matching pledge, and it’s $607,000.00!
I visited the church Tiffany and I pastored up until June of last year. It was good to see so many that we love so much. Their new pastor, Ed Sullivan is doing a great job. I pray God’s best for he and his family!
We helped pick up trash from streets that have drainage systems that lead to the Dickinson Bayou, and find some trash we did!
Here are a few pics.

Base of Operations located on the Dickinson Bayou boat ramp.

My team!

We even had a couple of neighborhood dogs ask to help! The picture of the second one does not do justice...this dog was nearly as big as my son, Chase!

We had a man down and wasn’t able to help. How did that happen to his foot? Don’t ask...really. :>) But, he did show up anyway...

I think it becomes all too easy to believe that Jesus was some super human person that didn’t have a will of His own. In fact, Jesus did have a will and free choice of His own that he could exercise anytime he wished. He simply chose to subordinate His will to that of the Father’s will.
Lucky for us, He chose the nails!
This clip is the one I used to introduce my Easter sermon titled, “He chose the nails.”
